Seasons of Change and Transition (Part 4)

Seasons of Change and Transition (Part 4)

If nothing ever changed, there'd be no butterflies. ~Author Unknown

There are many examples of transition in God’s Word…Noah, Moses, Esther, Ruth, Abraham, Joseph, David, Rahab, Elisha, Mary, Paul…each of these embraced their transition. What about those who didn’t like: Lot’s wife, Potiphar’s wife, Ishmael, Saul, Michal, Ahab, Ananias and Sapphira. The list is endless of those who surrendered to God’s season of change and those who did not.

Like the brother in the parable of the prodigal and many other Bible characters, we too resist change. Why is it that we feel we must understand EVERYTHING that He is doing? I’ve asked that question myself. Why am I so resistant to change? I think a lot of it comes from the wounds of our past. Until we can allow the Father to heal our emotions, we can never walk in true freedom.

I mentioned Joseph earlier. If anyone could have an inferiority complex, it could’ve been Joseph. Bless his heart! One would think he could be one more offended, hurt individual. Ok…I know he bragged a little about his dreams that made his family feel he felt superior to them, but come on. To throw your brother in a pit, then sell him to heathens while deceiving your father into believing wild animals tore him apart is a little extreme, don’t you think?

Yet even through all of the HORRIBLE things Joseph experienced, he remained faithful. He must have allowed our wonderful God to heal his wounds of the past. His lifestyle exhibited one who was allowing past hurts to be healed. It was evident that he wasn't a bitter, resentful man. You can't walk in favor like Joseph did and have bitterness. It's like oil and vinegar, it want mix.

Joesph always found favor in his master’s sight by serving…first Potiphar, then the Captain of the prison guard and finally, Pharaoh. Wow! What an amazing man Joseph was. He could’ve walked in such bitterness and offense, but he didn’t. He chose to be a man of integrity and servanthood. Through his surrendered life, he was used to save the Hebrew race!

Joseph yielded to God’s transition for his life. Because of his willingness, everything that was meant for evil was turned around for good. This really hit me hard. So many times I’m rebuking the devil for what’s going on in my life or speaking the opposite of what “I think” it should be. If Joseph would’ve operated like me, the Jews would not exist today! He relinquished his rights and immersed himself in living a life of excellence through surrender and service. WOW!

God used his life to maintain a legacy which brought forth our Messiah…Jesus! What are you and I bringing forth? If we will abandon ourselves to HIS process, we may birth something that will change the course of history!

Oh, my sweet Lord, may I forgo what I think is right and voluntarily submit to Your will!
